About

About this site

A public-record reference on British licensed casinos. What it is, what it is not, and how it pays for itself.

What this is

A reference built on the Gambling Commission's public register. It answers four questions that are answerable from public data and are otherwise tedious to look up: whether a casino web address is licensed in Britain, which company is behind it, what that company has been penalised for, and how long it has held its licence.

The register is open to anyone. Almost nobody reads it, because it is published as four separate files that have to be joined on an account number before they say anything useful. Doing that join is most of what this site is.

What this is not

It is not a list of recommended casinos and it does not rank operators by how attractive their offers are. The score on each operator page is computed from the register by a published formula and cannot be influenced commercially. The method is set out in full, including the things it cannot measure.

How it is funded

At present it is not. There are no affiliate links anywhere on this site, no advertising and no sponsored placements. If commercial links are added later they will be marked as such on the page they appear on, and they will have no effect on any score, because the scoring inputs are register data and our own testing.

Who writes it

The operator pages are generated from the register rather than authored. The explanatory pages are written by the editorial team and are unsigned; we would rather be judged on whether the sources check out than on a byline.

Getting it wrong

Publishing factual claims about named companies carries an obligation to fix mistakes properly. The corrections policy sets out what we will change, what we will not, and how.
